The Company
Sitka Salmon Shares is a sustainably sourced seafood company that works with small boat fishermen to bring wild-caught fish directly to the consumer's doorstep. Through food and education, they aim to rebuild America's seafood system.
The Project
Much of my work for Sitka Salmon Shares was based around their effort to educate consumers about the role of wild fish in coastal Alaskan environments, and how we as humans influence that system.
The lifecycle of salmon
Throughout my design work for the company, I learned about and participated in Alaskan operations: small-boat commercial fishing, working the fish plant processing line, and interviewing local community members about the importance of the small-scale fishing industry.
I capped off my experience at SSS with a short blog post reflecting on the company, their mission, and life in Sitka, Alaska. You can read it here.
